Junior match on Broadwater lake
It wasn’t the best match that Broadwater’s rugby bank had produced for the nine young hopefuls after a chilly night, but most managed to catch at least one fish. Best of all though was Callum Powell who landed two fish for a total of 16lb 10oz to win his 14-16 age group easily. A surprise second was Ben Barnett who stuck to catching the lakes roach, rudd and perch with a commendable 4lb 10oz for second place. Unfortunately these were the only two catchers in the group.
The 11-13 group saw a peg-by-peg battle between good friends Kit Webber and Freddie Baker with Freddie coming out top with 6lb 14oz of roach, perch, rudd and a couple of small carp, all taken on maggot and waggler.
The final 7-11 group of three lads saw just two catch, each with a single fish. Dan Ruddick took the prize with his 7lb 8oz fish over Joshua Skutek’s 5lb 14oz fish.
The next match is on Hill Pond on October 10th, so loads of bites are expected! Don’t forget book in!
