This match was transferred to Richardson as the original venue on the river at Firs Bridge was flooded, making fishing impossible.

Richardson proved very hard on a cold day and there were several blanks amongst the nine hardy souls that fished. Chris Kampa won the day with a couple of Tench backed up with a few Skimmers and Roach.

Despite a bitterly cold start to the day this match was well attended by twenty members. Paul Etherington ran out the winner from peg 42 with two Bream on the feeder and approx 12 lbs of Roach on a 5m whip close in. Second from peg 11 was Phil Morris with a bag of Skimmers on the feeder. Third was Frankie Bevan & Buster with newcomer Wayne Hughes fourth. His catch included a near- 6 lbs Tench.

The match was fished on the Swan Pub stretch at Ash Vale either side of the bridge, on a wet and blustery day with twelve attending after several dropouts due to the poor forecast.

Chris Kamper was the winner fishing opposite the 1st white boat taking three good Perch and a skimmer, along with small Roach for 7.8.0. Consistent Andy Rogers was second from the other side of the bridge but was hampered by chocolate brown water coming into the canal from a side steam in the second half. Lee Simmonds and Roy Fiander were third and fourth.

Twenty two fished this match on a dull drizzly day. The winner was Eddie Rippon on peg 42 who started on the feeder with soft pellet switching to the pole after a couple of hours to take big Bream all day for 53lb. Next door on 41 Andy Rogers made a slower start but finished well ending up with 37lb, Perry Gray on peg 15 included a 7lb Tench in his third place bag. Roger Howe took fourth with 11lb.

The match was divided in two as one end usually fishes much better than the other and so it was today. The top three at the dam end were Eddie, Andy & Roger, and the top three at the boathouse end were Perry Gray,Mick Harrod & Jim Findlay.

This match was fished on a falling river following weeks of floods and fish were hard to come by. Top pair on the day were Ken Cardwell (Firs Bridge) and Andy Rogers ( Lower Common bottle bank). Each had 1 Perch making them the only pair to both catch. Second were John Taylor and Mark Harrington, thanks to three chub caught by John for 6 lbs. Individual section pools went to John Taylor 6.3.0 and Barrie Stevens 3.15.0.

Sixteen fished this match on a warm spring day with unbroken sunshine and temperatures reaching 17c for those in the sun, but a chilly breeze and a clear lake made the fishing hard for all but the winner Paul Etherington on peg 1. Paul fished the feeder with chop worm all day to take Bream and three large 2lbs plus Perch. Colin Sax was second, also on the feeder and worm on peg 8. Perry Gray on peg 11 was third - also on feeder. Bailiff Ken Cardwell took fourth on feeder & worm from peg 26. It was nice to see some of the Chub showing with Richard McQuinn taking 3 for 7lbs on peg 19.

Colin Underwood on peg 6 had Carp and Skimmers also on the waggler and whip using maggot. Fourth went to Jim Findlay on peg 18.

It was nice to see River Bailiff Pete gains out again despite poor health but he still managed second with 31lbs from arch rival head bailiff David wood who had 27lbs. Most fish on the day went to Johnsons bailiff Martin Redfern with 150 plus fish for 15lb and fourth place

Ian Dixon on peg 47 ran out the winner fishing the pellet feeder to take Tench, Bream and bits for 46 lbs. Brian Stevens nearby on 49 pole fished casters over groundbait and a second line with pellet for a bag of mainly Crucians with a few Tench and Bream for good measure for 31lb. Charlie Salmon on 44 and John Brounley on 53 were third and fourth.

It was nice to welcome back Farnham AS to one of our club matches and meet with many old friends, 41 fished in the end so we decided to keep the match all on Richardson freeing up Harris for pleasure anglers. Trevor Haskell won the day from peg 6 with 32lbs taken on dead maggot and the method from Phil Morris on peg 39 with 31lb. Third was Eddie Rippon on peg 5 with 26lb and fourth was Chris Ludlow on peg 45 with 21lb. This inter club match with Woking attracted 39 competitors on a cold windy but dry day, the wind had turned o the north east and the fish moved around as they do leaving the Hill pond end struggling for bites. John Brownley on peg 14 found Tench Bream and Crucians on the pole for 25lb to win from adjacent Ken Russell on peg 13 with a similar catch for 19lb. Proving this was the area to be Brian Wallace on peg 11 was just pipped into third also with 19lb and fourth went to Mick Mahoney on peg 26 with 16lb.

Thirty seven Godalming & Twyford anglers fished this inter-club match using all Richardson Lake on a warm breezy day with hazy sunshine. Godalming's Phil Worral on peg 4 made no mistakes fishing pole & casters and took the win with 27lb from Twfords Stuart Kimble on peg 35 who had Bream and Tench on the waggler an maggot. Third was Nick Cook on peg 45 with 20lb and fourth was Colin Sax on peg 9 with 18lb. It was sad to hear that long time Twyford match organiser Vix Sexton has moved away to Lincolnshire (many will remember him from the winter league era), we wish him well in his new surroundings.

As only 2 entered organiser Dave Johnson set up a head-to-head/teach-in with both entrants. It was 14 year old Daniel Norris who struck first and landed a two and a half pound bream on the method feeder and pellet. Daniel was in again with just 45 minutes left and secured a good win with 5lb 7oz. But his opponent, 13 year old Rory Gunner after a tough battle slid the net under a lovely 4lb 4oz tench.

Sunny conditions and a brisk breeze made it difficult for the 5 pairs fishing the Kids ’n Dads match, but it didn’t deter the Ewing ‘clan’, Dave and Michael, who won from their good draw on peg 2. Fishing both method feeder, waggler and short pole (Ewing Jnr) they made a great joint catch of 44-5-0.. Further along on peg 11 was the Simmons clan where Finnley Jnr beat his more accomplished father Lee, by nearly 6lbs! They still registered a joint 22-7-0 to easily take 2nd place. Third place was Andy (Snr) and Tye Hackman from pegs 13/14 with 8lb+.

Thirty seven Godalming and Farnham anglers fished this inter club match an Badshot Lea small pond on a very warm bright sunny day with temperatures reaching 25c. Farnham had a clean sweep of the places using their local knowledge of the water. Tony Medleycott won from peg 28 taking Bream and skimmers for 17lb, Ian Turner on 38 was second with a similar bag for 16.6.0. Jason Willowby and Simon Hunter were third and fourth. Godalming anglers Roy Fiander, Ian Covey, Eddie Rippon and Colin Underwood picked up section wins. Although the conditions made for poor fishing it was nice to fish a big inter club match again another local side with lots of banter from both sides

Brians Stevens took the win from end peg 20 down opposite the boathouse on the left hand bank taking a mixed bag of Tench Bream and bits for 69lb on the pole and pellet. Second at the opposite end was Chris Kampa on peg 6 with 42lb narrowly beating Charlie Salmon on peg 8 who had 39lb. Dorking match captn Martin Cooper on peg 32 was fourth with 31lb.

This years charity match at Marsh Farm was to raise as much money as possible to buy equipment to help patients at the Bradley Unit in Woking. This is a specialist unit is where patients stay for around six to eight weeks as it helps stroke, heart attack and RTA victims get their lives back again after terrible body traumas.

The match was fished in terrible conditions with heavy rain all day and unfortunately this resulted in a poor turnout on the day, however combining the proceeds from the match and Roys famous Curry night he managed to raise a very respectable total in excess of £600. Well done Roy and wife Sarah.

Winner on the day from peg 11 was Darren Dodge with 67lb from Dave Lewis on peg 9 with 43lb. Third was Dave Hoffman on peg 35 with 43lbs also from fourth placed Dave Johnson on 27 with 24lb.

Once again this season Godalming rod Andy Rogers came out on top from a much fancied peg on the end of the island on the right hand bank using feeder maggot and 8mm pellet to take 25 Bream for 78lb. Second was Wokings Terry Baverstock also with 25 Bream on the feeder for 69lb from peg 1 on the front bank from third place Andy Love also on the front bank who used tea bags and pellets for 43lb. Godalmings John Wilkins and Colin Sax were fourth and fifth with 32lb and 25lb from the right hand bank.

Despite great misgivings at the depth averaging 18 inches the lake fished very well with many quality Roach showing as well as Carp for most. Frank Bevan on peg 1 fished Corn and Meat for a winning weight of 80lbs of Carp. Second place went to Colin Underwood on peg 3 catching Carp in the edge and Roach on the whip for 52lb from Perry Gray on peg 6 who also had Carp and Roach for 45lb. The weather put paid to the river once again with heavy overnight rain on Friday leaving the river chocolate and running really fast with all gates open again. We switched to the Cattershall lock cuts and 17 fished up and down from the lock 1-9 below and 10-20 above, the fishing proved rock hard following an overnight frost. Ken Cardwell on peg 8 near the lock on the downstream side polefished bread punch and worm for a catch of Roach and Perch from Frankie Bevan on the upstream peg 14 and Max Calverley on 12. The match proved to be rock hard with several blanks but not so for new member Henry Golas fishing his first Godalming mach. Pegged on peg 1 he had several large perch on Worm and a few Roach on Punch for 5lb to take first from Second placed Charlie Salmon on peg 5, Charlie also had Roach on punch plus two Perch, Third was Frank Bevan on peg 4 with four Perch from fourth placed Jim Findlay on peg 3 who had 13oz of punch Roach. Eleven pairs turned out for the final match on the river this season, although no rain during the week the water levels and flow rates fluctuated wildly over the weekend. 12inches down on Saturday evening then normal on Sunday morning only to speed up and drop another 9 inches during the day, needless to say the fishing was vey poor with over half the field blanking. Dave lake and Frank bevan made the most of a good draw with Dave on 61 in Salgasson taking a single Bream and a Roach totalling 2lb and Frank on peg 1 in Firs with a few Perch and Dace for 4lb. Second pair were Brian Stevens and Jim Findlay with a total weight between them of 5oz but megger section points.Third went to Barry Stevens and Rory Kingerley, Rory blanked but Barry won the Firs section from just past the manor with two Chub. Bob Percy and son Jason tied for third on pts but with Bob blanking and Jason winning the Salgasson section with a Chub of 3lb they missed out on weight.

This fourth round of the summer league on Johnsons fished well for most of the 22 competitors with double figures needed to get in the top 15. Winner John Wilkins drawn on peg 8 next to the lily pad fished the pole and worm to take a catch tench & crucians for 48lb. Second from peg 18 was consistent Andy Rogers with 46lbs on the waggler & feeder from third pace Eddie Rippon on the next peg 19 with 40lb. Lee Simmons on peg 27 was fourth with 34lb. Third was Brian Wallace 42lb on 45 and Darren Dodge 31lb on peg 9 rounded out the top 4.

Jim Findlay on peg 3 was second taking 27lb of Tench Crucians and Bream from third placed Adrian Wylde on peg 11 with 27lb also. Phil Worrall was fourth with 23lb from peg 13. With the receipts from the match plus proceeds from other events organised by Roy Fiander he was able to present the Headway Charity with £1000 at the end of the day. Well done Roy.

Phil Morris got the pellet feeder working on peg 8 and finished top with a mixed bag of 40lb from second placed Dave Steer on peg 13. Dave fished the pole and pellet for 26lb. Charlie Salmon on peg 46 fished the maggot feeder for a mainly Tench catch of 20lb from Dave Lake on peg 4 with 19lb.
