Six pairs entered this last Kids & Dads match of 2017, fished on the Rugby bank. It was a slow start for some but not the masters of the end peg draw! Marcus and Ben Gregoriades carried on from their successful 1st round in the Preston Junior League with another win from the top end of the Rugby bank. Having lost the first two fish within minutes of the off, it was Ben who banked the first fish, an 8lb plus common, which signaled the start of a runaway win. With Marcus and Ben each trading fish, it was dad Marcus who eventually won the numbers and weight game with 8 fish for 88lb 14ozs. Ben was just one fish behind, but his were smaller, the best only hitting 10lb. His total of 63lb 1oz, added to dads’ 88lb14ozs, gave them a clear win 151lb 15ozs.
Their closest rivals were the Hackman’s who managed a combined weight of 48lb 8ozs. Tye Hackman did have the satisfaction of taking the biggest fish prize, a lovely common of 17lb 6ozs. Third placed pair were the Casbon’s with 40lb 4ozs, courtesy of dad Ian, who banked 4 fish to 10lb 15ozs! Fourth place went to the Carter’s, with Jessica taking the silverfish prize but also adding a super 14lb 14oz mirror from down the edge on waggler and maggot.
Next match is on 23rd September at Bramley Lake. Don’t forget to bring your own keepnets and remember…it’s a points match!
