In response to the weather forecast for extreme heat over the coming days it has been decided to close all fisheries, including the river, to fishing from 7pm this Thursday (14th July) until further notice. Matches are already suspended.
The water, weather conditions and forecast will be reviewed early next week and we would hope to reopen fisheries as soon as practical and safe to do so. Please keep an eye on the website, Facebook and notices for updates.
The decision to close fisheries is never taken lightly but in the interest of fish welfare and advice from our own fishery management team and a number of outside bodies we needed to act and provide clarity for our members. Not to act now risks our fish being harmed and stressed and the probability of having to close fisheries with little or no notice.
I appreciate this will be unwelcome news to some members but be assured we will get back to normal as soon as we can.
