British Record Crucian Carp
Added on June 15, 2015

Our Johnsons Lake is now the home of the British Record Crucian Carp, a fish weighing 4lb.10oz. This magnificent fish was caught four times in early May, and two of its captors submitted claims that have been accepted by the British Record Fish Committee as the new record.

The record holders are Steve Frapwell and Mike James pictured here with the new record fish.

Note : Back in 1967 when the BRFC was formed, a number of the existing records were scrapped, including the Crucian Carp. That record at a weight 4lb.11oz was caught by Mr.Hinson on 25th September 1938 in a match at our Broadwater Lake.
