Busbridge
(Closed May
1st - June 15th inclusive)
A very attractive &
secluded private lake of almost 5 acres that is owned by the club and
purchased in August
1989. This is one
of those rare Lakes where the fishing really is secondary to the location. Set
in a secluded valley on the edge of Godalming, Busbridge Lake is surrounded
by mature trees and has numerous sets of lily pads throughout the summer months
and into early autumn. The pads and two fallen trees (deliberately left in the
lake) are the favourite haunts of the small head of mature carp.
Kingfishers are always
resident here as are deer, fox and rabbits which are regularly seen in the grounds.

Location: Busbridge
Lower Lake is at the foot of Ladywell Hill in Tuesley Lane, Godalming.
Size: almost 5
acres it appears like a section of river wending its way around a bend and out
of sight towards the top end where it is fed from the upper and middle lakes
that belong to our neighbours.
No. swims: 43 with
several comfortably able to accommodate two anglers. All swims have been designed
to give members plenty of space and a level area from which to fish.
Disabled access:
This is one our summer venues for The Fishing for the Blind Holidays that we
host every year - that should speak volumes as to its general suitability. There
is ample parking here and a level access to fish from the bargate stone fronted
dam wall that also leads round to the left of the lake where I would describe
wheelchair access as fair. Pegs 1 -6 are easily accessible by wheelchair the
rest would require some assistance and a number have steps down to the swims
that are unsuitable for wheelchairs. To the right of the dam wall we laid concrete
ramps which makes wheelchair access (with probably some assistance
due to gradient) quite possible. Most swims on the right are wheelchair
accessible
with exception peg 43 and 39. None have a safety bar fitted.
Parking: There
is a large car park inside the entrance and it only ever fills up during matches.
Locked gate: Yes.
Padlock using standard issued key.
Toilet on site:
Yes. Portaloo in car park.
Map of venue: See
above.
Fish stocks:
Bream to 7lbs, but mainly in 2- 5lbs range, Common Carp to 31lbs, Mirror Carp
to 32lbs , Crucian Carp to 3lbs, Gudgeon, Minnow,
Perch to 4lbs, Pike to 30lbs, Roach to 1lbs, Rudd to 12oz,Tench to 8lbs.
